DRAMA AND THEATRE STUDIES
Pam astudio Drama ac Astudiaethau’r Theatr?
Caiff y myfyrwyr gyfle i:
• ddyfeisio, perfformio a chyfarwyddo dramâu.
• astudio ystod eang o ddramâu.
• ehangu eu profiadau theatrig drwy ymweld â’r theatr yn
gyson.
• arbrofi gyda sgiliau technegol priodol ar gyfer
cynyrchiadau e.e. golau, sain, gwisg, cynllun llwyfan.
• arddangos dealltwriaeth ac ymwybyddiaeth o waith
ymarferwyr adnabyddus o fyd y theatr.
• cyfleoedd i fynychu gwrandawiadau ac i fod yn rhan o
gynyrchiadau amrywiol.
Beth yw cynnwys y cwrs?
Rhoddir nifer o brofiadau amrywiol i fyfyrwyr o fewn y cwrs hwn gan gynnwys cyflawni prosiectau ymarferol yn seiliedig ar ddramâu gosod a gwaith dyfeisiedig eu hunain. Trefnir gweithdai amrywiol ac ymweliadau gan siaradwyr gwadd ac arbenigwyr o feysydd perthnasol.
Rhan allweddol o’r cwrs yw ymweld â’r theatr yn rheolaidd a chael profiad eang o arddull amrywiol. Disgwylir i fyfyrwyr wneud gwaith ymchwil drwy ddarllen amrywiaeth eang o ddramâu ac anogir hwy i arbrofi’n eang wrth lwyfannu perfformiadau e.e. defnyddio lleoliadau megis hen gastell neu eglwys neu leoliad awyr agored.
Why study Drama and Theatre Studies?
Students will have an opportunity to:
• devise, perform and direct plays.
• study various genres of plays.
• enhance their theatrical experiences, by regularly
visiting the theatre.
• experiment with technical aspects appropriate to the creation
of productions e.g. light, sound, costume, stage design.
• gain an understanding and knowledge of well respected
practitioners in the world of theatre.
• provide opportunities to audition and to participate in
various productions.
What does the course contain?
Students are provided with a wide variety of experiences within the course, which includes project work based set play texts and work devised by the students themselves. A variety of workshops and visits by guest speakers and leading exponents from related areas are organised as part of the course.
A key component of the course are regular visits to the theatre in order to gain experience of a variety of genres. Students are expected to undertake research by reading a range of plays, and they are encouraged to experiment through staging performances of their own, e.g. using locations such as a castle, a church and open air locations.
